Originally founded in 1996 as a parent initiative by employees of the Hessian police, our daycare center in Mainz-Kastel is still located on the police grounds. However, we are not a company-run daycare, but open to all children from their first year until they start school. And the unique location makes every drop-off, outdoor play, and pick-up an adventure for young and old alike.

Our Offer

60 Available Spots

60 children are cared for warmly and cheerfully all day in four groups by two caregivers each.

4 Groups

Mice, sparrows, penguins and butterflies frolic in four group rooms.

Outdoor area

With nest swing, climbing frame and mud play area plus separate nursery area with fruit and vegetable garden.

Early musical education

From the age of 3, children are taught by music teachers according to the concept of the "Sound Street".

Creative woodworking shop

In our woodworking shop, our children can start crafting and working on projects from the age of 4 1/2.

Preschool education

Ambitious preschool education with a dedicated teacher who works across groups.

2 nursery groups for children between 1-3 years old (10 children each)

Penguins & butterflies

Penguins: Mixed-age group for children between 2-7 years old (15 children) | Butterflies: For children between 3-7 years old (25 children)

SchuWiDu
(Preschool)

The "Schuwidu's" ("Schulkind wirst du" translates to "becoming a schoolchild") are prepared for school in their final year of kindergarten in an age-appropriate group for about an hour daily. Projects are offered, which can vary each year.

Our daily routine

  • 6:45 a.m.Good Morning

    The early birds are coming! We'll play together in the early group until 8:00 am.

  • 8:00 a.m.Hello to the groups

    Quickly, quickly, everyone should be here by 8:45. The little ones will have a group breakfast, while the older children can help themselves until 9:30. Fresh fruit and vegetables are available all day for anyone who gets hungry in between.

  • 10:00 a.m.Time for our projects

    The little ones are being changed – the older ones are brushing their teeth. Time for our projects – or free play, simply gluing, painting, cutting, or perhaps going outside – the older ones are even allowed to do that on their own now.

  • 11:30-12:30 a.m.Lunch together

    Of course, with a whimsical toast before meals (often turning into a fun ceremony at home). Shhh – afterwards the little ones sleep – the grown-ups brush their teeth and play – a little more quietly.

  • 2:30 p.m.A little snack

    There will be a small refreshment for everyone – bread along with something healthy.

  • 3:00 p.m.Playing time

    Everyone is playing again – with and without caregivers – indoors or outdoors.

  • 4:15 p.m.Calling it a day

    Goodbye and see you tomorrow!

1How can I register my child?
If you would like to register your child with us, you must first register with Wikita. There is also a registration form that you must fill out if you are interested.
2Can I visit the daycare center before registering my child?
Of course, you can visit the daycare center beforehand. Please call us in advance to schedule a visit. We can then arrange a meeting. These usually take place on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. with a small group of interested people. During the meeting, you'll learn about our educational approach, have the opportunity to ask questions, and be shown around the facilities. We look forward to meeting you and your child!
3How much does a daycare spot cost?
The cost for a daycare place is as follows:
  • 1-3 years: €340.00
  • 3-7 years: €325.00 without state subsidy, €120.00 with state subsidy for 6 hours of care
  • Meals: €100.00 (includes breakfast, lunch, snack, and drinks)
  • One-time registration fee: €140.00
  • Crafts fee: €5.00 per month
Fees are collected via SEPA direct debit. Diapers and care products for the youngest children are included in the cost.
